Needing to Make Our Mark… In One Form or Another.

It appears that a group needed to leave their mark in the park, including a possible clue from whence they came.

This area has been previously partially developed, including several lines on this boulder.

Here’s a closeup of what was written:

In the center appears to be the latin letters λΓ, lambda and gamma.

On April 27, 2013, Tony, Joel, Auden, and PL made their mark. They are now officially special. This stupid action occurred around the White Cliffs of Dover area.

I prefer chalk and some rubber wear. What’s your marking style?

  1. I usually prefer to make my mark by urinating or sometimes by cleaning moss (lichen for you lucky enough to live south of 45*) off of boulders or maybe pulling loose rock off of small boulders. Paint is just so easily removed, I prefer much more lasting measures or at least ones that let me pull my wang out!!

Seriously though, this shit is not abnormal for a lot of people! I unfortunately know this because I spend way too much time on Mountain Project. Just to clarify, it is not really “my” time but my employers time.

Please post the pics. I have been on a Instant Karma/Instant Justice kick lately.

  2. Thanks for the rundown. Please forward the shots. I’d like to see them. Thanks.

  3. It is everywhere Rob. Starting in the parking lot, they tagged the back of the info sign, then they tagged perhaps 3 trees on the trail out. At the first rocks there are several tags on the back side of boulders, then continuing up to the Oysterbar wall proper, there are several more tags on boulders. On the day it occurred, climbers in the area smelled paint and saw a group of young men congregating. They reported it to rangers and the rangers returned and caught them redhanded! I have photos of all the tags of you want to share here.

  4. You should see the Oysterbar area. At least they caught those fuckers!
