early 20th century black and white

I was thinking more like Capa or the countless ww1 shooters that remain mostly anonymous or even Burrows (he did shoot b&w but mostly during the vietnam war) . Jill shot this image of a summit grab on the FA send. I like it a lot. I converted it to b&w making the picture reflect the mood well. The original is below it. The metadata shows it was shot at 5:47pm on Feb. 22, meaning it was 3 minutes after the sun official set. I have a soft spot for shots that are not posed, and in this case from an angle that is more observatory then participatory. Had it been shot from directly above, the presence of the photographer would surely have been on the mind of the climber, but in this case the climber and spotter mostly reside in their world while the photographer in her world.

as daylight waned, jill snapped this image.
